Recruiters seem to favor candidates with very specialized skills nowadays. If think on the long term, it is better be a generalist with a few specializations. This is especially true if you want to start your business.
Indeed, it is harder to become a generalist than a narrowly specialized expert.

But major players are not ready to accept this class of multifaceted skilled professionals and tend to hire individuals for each of their specific needs .. I have seen startups welcome 'generalist' kind of professionals for obvious reasons ...
(i) works out cheaper (as against hiring 3 or more guys each with specialized skills).
(ii) advantage of having better solution design due to the person's ability to take big picture view (able to talk at 100 ft view, at the same time being able to take a 10ft view)
