What are the most valuable programming languages (beyond SAS and R) to know for analytics?

I am very new to the analytics field, and as far as I can tell, SAS and R seem to be the go-to languages for analytics professionals.

However, I was wondering if there are any other languages that you have found to be especially useful, such as C++, C#, or Java, in your career.

Which programming languages are the most vital (beyond SAS and R)?

You need to know SQL. Data extract/reporting is an important part of the Analytics arena.

I'd say that depending on what sort of data you're working with, Python seems to be commonly used as well. Generally, knowing a general purpose scripting language seems to be helpful with ETL and tying together multiple languages in an analysis. Also, sometimes R and SAS won't be available or won't be able to handle the volume of data you want, so you need to be able to sample and transform the data using a lower level language.

(Disclaimer: I am also VERY new to analytics and don't neccesarily know what I'm talking about, this is just based on my observations of what other's have said!)

Time series analysis could be easier for a beginner with an ad hoc program like TSP or others suited to your needs

R is the preferred statistical environment/language for Kaggle data mining competitions.
