GuideOne Insurance is a nationally recognized insurer of houses of worship, senior living communities and educational institutions. Currently we seek a Predictive Modeler position. This position is responsible for planning and delivering predictive models, statistical analysis, and data mining projects for a variety of uses. The position coordinates with and peer reviews the work of other analysts, documents and communicates results of the analysis, and secures the buy-in of various stakeholders. The ideal candidate will also have experience in property casualty insurance. Successful applicants will possess a strong understanding of data management, manipulation, data mining, statistical analysis, modeling, and validation skills; IT experience is a plus, but not required. Must demonstrate proven documentation, project management and planning skills, with excellent oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities Include:

• Responsible for extracting data from various systems, understanding it, cleansing it, and manipulating it into model-able form.
• Run models to uncover behavior that drives specific targets - such as loss frequency and severity, retention, sales, or others. The modeler/data analyst will be responsible to provide demonstrable evidence that the model is predictive and how it compares to current methods in use.
• Work with the implementation team to see that approved models are built properly into production.

While this role reports within the Actuarial department, it is not an exam-track position.

Requirements include:

• Data management/ manipulation/ validation skills (possibly from IT experience)
• 2+ years of experience with GLM projects and tools
• College degree in statistics or mathematics required
• Advanced degree in statistics a plus
• Facility with either SAS or SQL programming
• Project management experience
• Documentation skills
• Knowledge of modeling software (e.g. Emblem/ Pretium/ CART)
• Non-linear modeling a plus(ex:decision tree, neural nets, spatial anaysis)
• Presentation and graphing skills

Must be willing to relocate to West Des Moines, Iowa
