Dear Sirs:

I am a hybrid; I do both data analytics and data architecture for customer-centric data marts. I would be interested in talking further about consulting with your company, if the main activity is analytics, with data architecture as just the first step. From my academic backbround in ecosystem analysis and modeling, I approach businesses as large human ecosystems. I design solutions involving data architecture and data mining from a systems perspective.

I have 15 years of experience in both data mining analytics and in data architecture to support analytics. I managed the NCR Extended POC project that responded successfully to the JCPenney challenge to load 2 TB of catalog data into a data structure and score it with a SAS model within the required 14-hour window. That success led to the $11 million sale of NCR hardware and software in 1998. Also at NCR, I led the team that designed, developed, and delivered the first data mining applications for Teradata (ChurnSentry and GrowthAdvisor) in 1998. I have developed data mining models in Retail, Insurance, Banking, membership clubs (AAA), and industry (Raytheon). As VP of Technical Solutions at Pacific Capital Bancorp, I built a customer-centric householded data mart with the ETL tool SAS Dataflux, and used it to create data mining models for Commercial Banking. Recently, I served as senior author of the new book, "Handbook of Statistical Analysis & Data Mining Applcations", (May, 2009; Academic Press). I attach my resume (a full Academic CV is available upon request) and Chapter 1 from the Handbook. Chapter 1 shows why history and philosophy are necessary backgrounds for building good data mining models.

I am available for long-term consulting engagements in either a FT or 1099 consultant capacity. If you are interested in talking further, you can contact me as per below.

Sincerely,

Robert (Bob) Nisbet, Ph.D.
