Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center ranks third in the nation among all Honor Roll hospitals in U.S. News and World Report’s 2011 Best Children’s Hospitals ranking. Cincinnati Children’s is the only hospital in Ohio to make the Honor Roll list and one of only 11 in the United States. Cincinnati Children’s is a national leader in a structured approach to healthcare quality improvement practices, which are guided by staff in the James M. Anderson Center for Health Systems Excellence. Work at the Anderson Center is focused on identifying opportunities for improvement, implementing improved practices, disseminating improved practices, and tracking the effects of interventions.

We are currently recruiting for a Senior Analyst – Quality & Transformation to join the Data/Analytics group at the James M Anderson Center for Health Systems Excellence. The group is comprised of analysts, business intelligence developers, data managers, project managers, and applications developers, who collectively support a portfolio of quality improvement activities through data management, reporting and analysis. The Senior Analyst will work directly with clinical and business teams to help them with measure development and analysis necessary for them to achieve their goals to improve patient safety, clinical outcomes, efficiency of system performance, and patient experience. Specific duties include:

  • Participate on multi-disciplinary research and clinical quality improvement teams
  • Work with project teams to operationalize measures with data extracted from the electronic health record system or other sources
  • Through analysis, help teams understand the reasons for the behavior of their performance metrics, and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Participate in development of presentation and publications


Qualifications:

Required

  • Masters degree in statistics, biostatistics, epidemiology, quantitative analysis or related discipline AND at least three years of experience meeting analytic needs in health care service delivery or process/quality improvement OR
  • Bachelors degree in statistics, biostatistics, epidemiology, quantitative analysis or related discipline AND at least five years of experience meeting analytic needs in health care service delivery or process/quality improvement.


Preferred:

  • PhD in statistics, biostatistics, epidemiology, quantitative analysis or related discipline OR at least ten years of experience either in health care service delivery or process/quality improvement.
  • Knowledge of statistical process control principles
  • Experience using SQL, Visual Basic, SAS or SPSS, Business Intelligence tools
  • Experience working with healthcare claims data, electronic health record data, pharmacy data, and/or laboratory data.
