The Weather Channel Companies seeks a highly-qualified business executive to foster and lead an emerging weather and business analytics team. The incumbent will be the leader of a group responsible for the creation of a broad suite of analytical products that drive client-solutions in weather sensitive businesses and industries. The person will grow, foster, manage, direct and participate with a team of mathematicians, economists, meteorologists and software engineers to analyze weather and other dependent data in the context of broad types of business, economic and risk data.   The Weather Analytics group’s mission is to perform research to ascertain relationships, dependencies and tendencies between the weather and business data in order to develop embedded solutions for managing and optimizing business outcomes in the face of changing weather.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage a diverse team aimed at identifying, predicting and applying analytical models to predict business and economic outcomes based partly on weather;
• Develop generalized frameworks for discovery of relationships between weather, business, economic and other related data using state-of-the-science data mining and related approaches;
• Create methods to predict future levels of business activity and risk based on those frameworks;
• Using the discovered relationships and other relevant information, develop methodologies to establish business action strategies using the analytics, in order to ensure optimal outcomes from weather dependencies;
• Work with product development teams to conceive and develop products that utilize the results, forecasts and strategies above;
• Recruit, foster, manage and lead a technical team sufficient to achieve the expected results;
• Identify and secure new business opportunities for the use of the predictive analytics;
• Work closely with external customers to ensure effective products are developed and optimally used;
• Interact with internal teams and individuals, including business development and sales groups, to promote and ensure the overall success of the weather analytics program
