just realize that my earlier comments sound a little too harsh for Barry. What I really meant to say is that I do not figure the report template he draw in the blog will actually provide the answer to the problem - although some commentators seem think so.

Barry Parshall from webtrends blog a few weeks ago talked about the right and wrong approaches to attribution analytics. It worth to read, the original post together with the comments -- although I do not see what Barry wrote will lead us anywhere closer to the answer :(

Thanks for the link!
there is another article touched on the "3rd generation" attribution analytics First, Last and Equal Attribution - 3 Wrongs Don’t Make It Righ and of course some of mine on micro and macro attribution, the three generations of attribution analytics etc..

I remember seeing one other "3rd gen" related article, but can't remember where to find it now :(

Vlad,
Nice to see you here :) This is a new exciting field especially if we look at it from business practice perspective. I have written some of my thought in my blog and like to get your comments on it. Here's the URL of my blog: http://huayin.wordpress.com/

Hi Huayin,

Thank you for inviting me to this group. As a matter of fact, recently I had a meeting with Opera Solutions team (www.operasolutions.com) - they presented a case study of attributing leads from 'unreferred' bucket to other marketing activities - from TV to online to e-mail.
Their particular case was not much persuasive - a quite complicated solution to re-distribute a fixed amount of revenue from "unreferred" bucket to known marketing activities - I was not convinced if it added knowledge or not - it would be hard to compare with other soutions, less time-consuming, or less costly.

Anyway, I am a novice on this subject and I am looking forward to reading on that subject more.
