Hello, I registered for this websit because I am really interested in learning about opportunities as biostatisticians in pharmaceutical industry. I just started my PhD dissertation and will likely work on topic related to continual reassessment method for dose finding. My interested disease area is oncology and would like to know if I work on this specific topic what's my chance of landing a decent job (preferrably non-entry level) in pharmaceutical company after graduation. I have five years working experience in oncology clinical research in health care sector (not pharma company). What kind of position/compensation should I aim for. Thanks for any input.

Hello,
I am Faisal and doing my PhD in Statistics Genetics specially Population Genetics. I am wondering If anybody have doing work in population genetics. Actually, my basic training is in statistics but now find its application in Bio sounds interesting.

Few minutes ago, my friend Imtiaz Ahmad gave me this link.....Its appearing looking nice place to learn about statistics and their applications.

I hope it will be good experience for me.

Regards
Faisal

Hello, my name is Rachel. I have graduated with a Master of Science in Medical Statistics with First Class Honours in 2008 at the University of Auckland in New Zealand, and have moved to Sacramento in June, 2008. I have great interest in statistical analysis and programming. I would like to continue working in an area that involves statistics. Can everyone please give me some suggestions on how I can start my statistical career? Thanks so much!
Through my education and training, I have gained knowledge of medical statistics and have developed data analysis and research skills from studying Statistical Consulting, Analysis of Failure Time Data, Design and Analysis of Clinical Trials, Epidemiology and Mixed Models. I have also studied a variety of other statistics courses, such as Experimental Design, Statistical Methods in Marketing and Sample Surveys.
Additionally, my master’s dissertation in medical statistics was about bioelectrical impedance analysis for body composition estimates using SAS, R and Excel for statistical analyses. In addition, I have done other group projects where the emphasis was to refine my skills in explaining statistical terminology and results in a non-statistical way. Overall, I have experience with SAS through three years of courses and projects at the University of Auckland; also experience with R and Excel from studying different statistics courses.
