Variable billing rate

Has anyone tried to offer variable hourly rates based on what you do: e.g. $50/hr when you do coding, and $100/hr when working on architecture, advanced design, and sales?

No, but that is a good idea, especially if you are a strategy guy who could use some extra work doing some coding.
