Hello,
For my PhD project I'm working on a human behavior prediction and comprehension tool. In order to do that, I'm choosing an alternative approach to statistics studies: philosophy. Human rational and natural behavior results from a great logical engine. If we understand it and translate it into a formal system, it can be easily implemented and computed in order to find more about what an agent (individual, collective agent, political entity) is doing or going to do.
My first background is rather in applied maths and computer science than in philosophy but I'm going more and more into this latter because I am more and more convinced that a good conceptual and logical apparatus is the key to get a good prediction software.
Because my PhD is essentially aimed to deliver something concrete, I'm curious about industries or software companies which would not be afraid to see philosophy (with a strong analytical and logical approach of course) as an efficient programming tool. I guess this is the case of many intelligence, military and telecommunication firms. But I'm sure that unexpected companies would work with this approach. I'm just curious to find out which ones.
I'm not sure about Google, but I would not be surprised. In France, Thales is a great example. Lots of communication companies are also interested in that areas, like Motorola. Palantir or Chatbot.org are also good software companies examples.
