Comment by V SHEKHAR AVASTHY on March 11, 2012 at 6:33pm Hi Gunjan
While certifications are facilitators (they help a bit), there's no substitute to hard work and practical experience ACROSS TOOLS. If one wants to make career in Business Intelligence (which most organisations sell in the name of Data Analytics), one should look at de\veloping skills around BI tools like Cognos/ Hyperian/ SAS BI/ Business Objects etc. If one is serious about Data Analytics, 3 skills are SIMULTANEOUSLY required - (A) In depth knowledge of Statistics; (B) Understanding of business issues (typically involves experience in Consulting and Market Research); (C) Ability to work across tools (at least all of theses: SAS Base/ SAS Enterprise Guide/ SAS Enterprise Miner/ SPSS Statistics/ SPSS Modeler). These 3 things together make a good DA resource and increase your value manifolds.
Hope this helps.

Comment by Amul Badjatya on August 3, 2011 at 1:24pm Hi friends!
I want to know of some good certifications that might help acquire new expertise and aid my credibility! I will attempt Base/Advanced SAS certifications this Jan 2012 and all. But I wanted to know about some others, if you have any ideas? Something specific to our field- for eg in statistics or operations research or R or something.
For the Background:
I have 7 months work experience as a business analyst at Mu Sigma Bangalore (analytics firm) and right now working as an Analyst at WNS Global services gurgaon since a couple of months.
I hope that the group becomes more active.
