Fantasy Football and Sub Prime Bailouts

Mr Herbert's runaway chariot is a good analog. I am pretty sure that horses are driving and not very tired. People should worry that the $700B is a fantasy, like the early Iraq war estimates that were too small by 10-fold. Is the unregulated $47 trillion web of credit-default swaps still growing even today? Doesn't this world-destroying mountain of circular contracts need be unwound and all similar instruments banned? Why can't Congress include a provision at least force an urgent public accounting of this "shadow banking" system? I would honestly sleep better if Congress authorized nationalization of troubled banks to protect deposits, renegogiate mortgages and refocus the country on 'old-fashioned' investing products that capitalize companies making real products/services -- not fantasy football high finance designed by PhDs.”
