key sentence extraction

Does anyone knows a good resource on key sentence extraction or automatic paraphrasing? I want to know if there is a way of automatically summarizing what a article is about in few sentences?

If you are interested in pure document summarization, look into the LexRank or TextRank algorithms.

There's a large research literature on this topic under the heading of text summarization, automatic abstracting, etc. Here's an open source summarizer you could try out: http://libots.sourceforge.net/
