What are the most valuable skill to develop in the Web Analytics space

Hi all, hopefully this is the appropriate forum to ask this question.  I am a seasoned Software Developer looking to move into the Web Analytics space.  I have been able to get an internship, working for an SEO/PPC company, to help develop a software application.  I will be able to learn the basics of SEO, PPC as well as the google analytics api.  Eventually, I hope to learn (and write code for) prediction algorithms in the SEO/PPC space.

What other skills should I look to develop in this space??

You should learn to build a web analytics measurement model. Where you can elicit and list the business objects / goals in three areas - acquisition, behavior (engagement) and outcomes for your website. There identify metrics to measure these goals, identify KPI's and set target for these metrics / KPI's. Your analysis should be around your measurement model / framework to see how your metrics are performing.

You can read Avinash Kaushik's blog - kaushik.net to get more understanding on Web analytics measurement model. Hope this helps.
