I agree that you shouldn't start calling yourself a guru of cloud computing if you're not in any case but if you're starting out in the industry, this might be very helpful to identify a specific growing niche, one that is very stable and one that's kind of not very popular anymore. Another important thing to note is that trends is driven by searches and content on the web. It pretty much resonates 90% of the time with the realities and demand but many industries are not shaped to drive online searches so you have to be careful.

... and we can't change who we are.  If we're DM or BI specialists, it's no use saying we do "cloud computing" if we really don't.  Nothing I've done lately has come from "the cloud."  We've just got to focus on being great at what we do!

I agree, once people know what a term means they refine their search since they know what they want

There is nothing to worry about
probably because datamining stabilised over a period and people know about it.
so they might be searching about heatmaps analytics or what ever ... while cloud computing being new born
people are searching for it...

Add in "analytics" and look what it does to the results. No doubt its tightly related to Google Analytics but none of the less an impressive trend.
