The Netflix Prize, Occam's Razor and PMML

I just finished reading an excellent posting on the Netflix Tech Blog by Xavier Amatriain and Justin Basilico. Entitled "Netflix Recommendations: Beyond the 5 stars (Part 1)", it gives a very nice account of the actual application of the 107 algorithms submitted as the winner solution to the Netflix…See More

useR! 2010 - Presentation Slides Available: PMML Execution of R Built Predictive Solutions

Hi all,I had the pleasure to attend the useR! conferencethis year. It was really interesting since it had presentations not onlyabout new advances in R, but also on how companies and people are usingR. For example, R on the cloud was a big theme as well as R for bigdata analytics. Our presentation was part of the industry track... companies using R to solve commercial problems. You can now see thepresentation we gave in Gaithersburg by clicking on the link below:…See More

PMML-based Predictive Analytics on a Massive Parallel Scale

As you probably know, Apache Hadoop is a Java-based framework that supports the parallel processing of large data sets in a distributed environment, to scale cost-effectively to thousands of servers and petabytes of data. Hadoop was inspired by Google's MapReduce which is a software framework patented by Google to support distributed computing for large data sets. Now, imagine beingable to execute predictive analytics on such a scale? And, guess what? It just became a…See More

Alex Guazzelli replied to Alex Guazzelli's discussion STASTISTICA PMML file conversion and uploading into KNIME in the group PMML
"Sorry, the converter converts files from older versions of PMML to version 3.2. You may though change the header of your file to fake it as a 3.0 model and see if that works."

"Hi Alex, In STATISTICA Automated Neural Network It has an option for deployment of PMML Model. But I am observing it is taking PMML 3.0. My question is may I down convert the PMML 3.2 to PMML 3.0. Please help me."

Alex Guazzelli replied to Alex Guazzelli's discussion STASTISTICA PMML file conversion and uploading into KNIME in the group PMML
"Hi Asad, Sorry, but from my understanding, STATISTICA allows you to export models in PMML, not import. If you are trying to upload PMML into a model building environment, two open source options are KNIME and Weka. Microstrategy can also consume…"

Thanks for moving my comment to the discussion area. I have just started following PMML group in Analytic Bridge, so I did not know where I should post it.

I look forward to having a useful discussion with members.

Hi Alex,

Thank you so much for inviting me and starting PMML discussion. This is wonderful.

SPSS products export many PMML model types and consume them too.

Have a great day.
Svetlana.

Fair Isaac's Model Builder product supports the generation of PMML and their Blaze Advisor(tm) business rules management system is a valid consumer. Also I think Pegasystems can consume PMML as can Chordiant Decision Manager.

Hi Alex,

Thanks for starting this group. Hopefully we'll see some interesting discussions. Weka has only limited import support for PMML so far (three model types). My plans are to expand this in the near future and then move on to consider exporting PMML.

Cheers,
Mark.
