Short Bio:

I am the Research Analyst for the Jenkins Collaboratory at Duke University. My current research centers on analyzing innovation landscapes & dynamics. Currently I am focused on nanotech, biotech, and their intersection in both the US and China. My approach uses text mining and citation graph analysis of both the US patent collection and the global scientific literature with an emphasis on data visualization. One of the commercial offshoots of the Collaboratory is SparkIP (http://sparkip.com), a best-in-field patent retrieval and technology marketplace that embodies several novel analytical techniques developed by current and former Collaboratory researchers. My graduate thesis on text mining diffusion in pharmacogenomics-based drug discovery will soon be published in book form.

I also teach courses in Media Studies at Duke and am a successful artist, musician, and poet. My fifth book of poetry, _Be Somebody_, will soon be released by Effing Press (Austin, TX).

I currently live in Chapel Hill, NC, with my wife Janet and two wonderful children, Sofia and Booker.
