Data Intelligence, Business Analytics
New research by the McKinsey Global Institute (MGI) forecasts a 50 to 60 percent gap between the supply and demand of people with deep analytical talent. Do you believe in these numbers? We are running a test, posting made-up, anonymous stellar analytic resumes (from non-existent people) on job boards, to see whether it attracts recruiters and hiring manager.
So far the response rate by genuine hiring managers or recruiters has been abysmal. This seems to contradict McKinsey's report. However, we are wondering if there might be a flaw in our test:
Any thoughts?

People want the information spoon fed to them within a narrative context, they want buzz, and they want to feel as if they are uncovering the truth by searching an clicking interactively on the web. In contrast the resume format (which is basically the same as a linked in page) tries to condense everything into carefully worded, dense statements. Who wants to read that? Nobody.
Comment by Cristian Mesiano on August 20, 2011 at 2:22am Hi Vincent,
May I bring my experience?
I uploaded my resume 2 years ago on linkedin, monster, and other famous websites: I received no more than 4-5 proposal.
Two months ago I opened a blog ( http://textanddatamining.blogspot.com/ ). It's pretty much technical, and I didn't expect any proposal.
Well, in two months I received around a dozen serious and interesting job proposal. :)
Let me ask you a question: why this change?
Regards
cristian
