There's lots talk about Tablets (e.g. iPads, PlayBooks) in the consumer marketplace, but there's a role for the Tablet PC in business intelligence (BI) reporting. For example, a while ago I interviewed Birst.com in Online Marketing Analytics Interview: Birst.com and SaaS Business I... which allows business intelligence clients to generate data reports using mobile Tablet technology.
This really shouldn't be a surprise given the move towards cloud computing and cloud-based analytics. As data processing and analysis becomes remote, more and more business users will likely utilize Tablet technology on-the-go to generate reports from web-based and App-based dashboards. Among both business (BI) users and consumers, however, Tablets present a new challenge for web interface developers: smaller screen sizes likely require a re-design of dashboard interfaces traditionally developed for larger laptop and desktop computer screens.
I'm awaiting a response from Tobii - an eye-tracking research company - to questions I recently asked them regarding the impact of Tablets on web page reader eye scanning patterns.
