Profile Information

Short Bio:
Consultant/contractor using relationship management, market research, and statistical modeling for sixteen years (used Apple II+ !); then went to graduate school for MA and PHD. I emerged as an Information Theorist and researcher of decision-making as it pertains to spatial choices such as where to shop, where to live, and where to work (translates into: where do I put my store/factory/institution?). Brief period spent teaching, then invited to accept a commercial location analytics research fellowship which evolved into full-time employment with Thompson Associates. Later made major impact at Blockbuster, Inc. Recruited by Niutech, a major player in the lead generation industry, where I had an in-depth introduction to the web multiverse. Recently returned to GIS analytics (but haven't left my new love, the Web!) as a manager at JP Morgan Chase. I have been affected all my professional life by 'appropriated scholarship' in the name of industrial efficiency, ROI, limited horizons (KPIs!), competitive secrecy, and proprietary attitudes, which were sometimes justified, but often were not. Now, I give away my ideas at my blog, if you can wade through the deathless prose that accompanies them. I invite you to drink at this pond, water your horse, and go ahead and claim the water rights too, if you think anyone cares or will listen. Fellow bikers and all welders especially welcome.

Hi James,

Thank you for your answer ! The thread "Data sets with more variables than observations" in which you participated seems interesting...

Best regards,
Jean-Charles.
