My background is primarily in the Social Sciences, so I have used SPSS for the majority of my career so far. SPSS is extremely user friendly, but has limitations in terms of the amount of data it can manipulate at one time and its breadth of applicability.

I will admit I am a newbie to SAS (I am taking graduate coursework as we speak), but for your analytical activities, I would lean toward SAS.

As far as the writing, please do let me know what you have in mind. If, for instance, the text was meant for a larger audience, I make a great "translator" from specialized lexicon to the average vernacular.

Aldo - no time like the present! It looks like we're working on some similar big picture ideas but not enough to cause any conflicts. Right now, I'm personally working on applications specific to commercial real estate and transportation. However, we have other continuing consulting engagements and upcoming opportunities relating to analytics. I'd like to get together and discuss possible synergies with Mathemetrica.
